The Forager
Originally conceived in collaboration with Wild Foliage PDX, a botanicals and apothecary specialist in Portland, this print was released for the Crafty Wonderland event in December 2024. The nature of the collaboration was this: two friends with “makers” practices would each use their individual art to explore a series of inspirations. The ultimate pairing to follow would be a room and linen spray together with a work of fine art.
The scent notes in the Mushroom Hunting spray, which represented the genesis of the project, included: mushroom hunting/foraging, the forest floor, rain-soaked earth, precious fungi, campfire, magical mycelium. Prominent notes in the spray include: cedarwood and cedarleaf, cedar moss, oak moss, Doug fir, and Boletus esulus. For the art, I focused on both the inspiring notes as well as the actual scent notes in the spray, resulting in the final image, which draws on tarot, psychedelia, and Art Nouveau vibes.
Original Painting: 2024, acrylic, colored pencil, and spray paint on Bristol paper, 14” x 17”
